Home on the Hill

It used to be that I had to be so careful about taking or posting pictures of Rich at work, lest he one day decide to go undercover. We have pretty much shot that idea down as a family, and now he is working in a very high-profile spot: Parliament Hill! He is asked to pose for pictures by tourists throughout the day, so I thought I'd get in on the fun.

He joined us for a little suppertime picnic beside centre block on a nice warm evening with a great breeze. It was so nice to be back there; that place is such a big part of my professional history, and served as a backdrop for some of the most formative years of my life. Plus, it is such a beautiful place: the architecture, the view of the river below, the manicured lawns and the hottie cops. I am very happy to call Ottawa my home again, and to have such easy access to Parliament Hill. Hailey and Robin liked having easy access, too.

I just think it's so cool that I can bring my girls to tromp around a place with such great historical significance, and that is now part of our own family's story. I am excited to weave history and storytelling into our adventures by only driving a few minutes from home.
