Field trip!

Today was another glorious, beautiful snowy spring day in the Yukon. (Barf in my mouth) Whatever. Its another gross-me-out snowy day but we had plans to join Abby's preschool for a field trip to the Yukon Wildlife Preserve to see the animals. For these northern kiddos of ours who don't get out much, this is as close as we get to a zoo. No lions or giraffes, just local wildlife traipsing around. We were treated to sightings of bald eagles, snow owls, elk, bison, muskox, arctic fox, deer, lynx, dall sheep and mountain goats. Not bad!

The kiddos were captivated, and Abby especially felt enthralled that her knowledge of food chains, lynx, arctic fox and snow owls was put to the test. She loved showing off, just like her mama. She really seems to love learning about animals, especially those that live near her. Taking her to the wildlife preserve was an awesome field trip, because she was so interested and excited to see these animals up close and in their natural habitat.

It might have been another depressingly snowy day, but we got out for an adventure that made my little girl smile, so I'll count it as a win.
