Handmade Gifts

We had a lovely Christmas at home, as I mentioned, and the girls and I received a mountain of thoughtful, useful and enriching gifts from our family and friends. As usual, some of the most treasured gifts received were handmade.
This year, Abby, Hailey and Robin were gifted a very special series of pantings from my Auntie Gail. She lives in Greece and comes home to Canada for Christmas every year. We have been unable to return home until this past Christmas, so it had been three years since she had seen baby Abby, and the twins had not yet met her in person. We have kept in touch over Facebook and through conversations with my mom, but it was so nice to see her and spend time with her in person.
I was really touched on Christmas morning when I unwrapped a box containing four watercolour paintings: One set in each season, featuring three beautiful sisters playing together. I love imagining her sitting in her beautiful white stucco island home on a sunny afternoon, painting these beautiful scenes for my girls. I am so warmed by the thought of how much love went into them.
They are now hanging in the twins' nursery where we all spend a lot of time reading together, playing with baby wipes and organizing (and destroying) laundry piles.
We will keep these very special painting hung in a place of privilege forever and ever.

    1. Thanks for pointing that out. (Your grammar is flawed. Doesn't it make you feel good to have missteps pointed out?)

  3. gorgeous and so very thoughtful. I'm sure you were touched by the thought and care your aunt put into those paintings. Can't wait to see them in person.
