Screen night

Once in awhile, I need to have a perfectly orchestrated screen night. It's in the nature of my biochemical structure. If I don't have a screen night every full moon, I become agitated, restless, loud, twitchy and I stop humming songs during breakfast.
Tonight is one of those nights. I surround my selected sit-upon spot with a cup of tea (tonight: licorice root), a glass of water, a snack (tonight: a muffin), the phone, the laptop, and something upon which to rest my tired feet (tonight: Abby's bumbo). My screen gem of choice: Wayne's World. It's been too long. I grew up with this movie. I'm pretty sure my brother and I could carry out an entire conversation in Wayne's World quotes.
"If you're gonna spew, spew in this."
"It will be mine. Oh yes, it will be mine."
"There is a God, Heather be thy name."
"Pardon me, do you have any grey poupon?"
"Party on Wayne, party on Garth."
I could go on. (And likely will, to Skylar, who sits beside me.)
I wear sweatpants, ignoring Rich's sarcastic quips about how my sex appeal is skyrocketing and singing "Business time" from Flight of the Conchords. My hair's in a pony and I usually start out doing some stretches in lieu of real yoga, but quickly retire to my butt-groove on the couch.
I look forward to my screen time all day, sometimes all week, when I can see it coming up. I actually smile and give out a deep sigh when I can count on it that night while throwing my back out holding a tantrum toddler leaving the Canada Games Centre against said toddler's will.
Thank goodness for screen nights.

  1. I know the feeling. I definitely look forward to when Noah goes to sleep and I can get some of the things that I want to do in.
