Coffee dates

Today's cure for boredom was deciding to get up and go take advantage of city living.
It was only 10 a.m., but Abby and I had gone through the roster of our usual activities: reading her books and putting them back, breakfast, snack, get dressed, play with toys, do laundry together, hide in the empty laundry basket, play outside and "dust." (That's where Abby takes a Kleenex and wipes things). Then I was bored. I didn't know how to fill the rest of the morning, now that she's not taking an a.m. nap anymore.
So I called my mama friend Shannon and arranged to pick up some Starbucks and visit her, her partner and baby Hunter. Abby wasn't a fan of staying still in her carseat during the Starbucks drive-thru, but she was delighted to be let out and run across the lawn to Shannon's house. I got to have some great non-toddler talking and visiting while Abby explored a whole new array of baby toys at someone else's house.
It was simple, it was fun and it would ave been impossible to do in Ross River. It took up just enough time to get home, have lunch and plop the toddler in her bed for naptime. Now to make appointments, clean properly and catch up on this mama's curiosities.
