Blink and the day goes by

Today I am looking for the opposite of a cure for boredom. I am looking for a cure for being a busy busy mama bee! The dishwasher crapped out, Abby's laundry for the next size up is downstairs in the dryer, needing to be folded and put away. The dining room table needs to be cleaned. The house needs to be dusted. The baby needs to be comforted amidst some teething disagreements between her and her little mouth. My body wants a tea with caffeine in it because I was awoken every two hours last night. Thoughts of tonight's dinner need to be had and then acted upon. DVDs of Abby's growth milestones need to be transferred to the laptop, edited, plopped onto DVDs, slipped into bubbly envelopes, addressed and shipped out to eagerly awaiting family members. The cats next door need to be fed and played with while their owners are gone. The library needs me to go and check on those darn, non-working computers. My future self needs a batch of nutty muffins made so they may be eaten in the morning for a quick jolt of life after a night of depleting my stores feeding Abby. And if I may be so self-indulgent, I need a nice stretch of time, daylight hours or not, on my couch or in bed with a tea and my book.
So today's thought of the day is that when one reflects upon the ease and leisure of life as a stay-at-home mom, envision not a scene of lounge wear, soap operas, peacefully napping babies and a hot lunch eaten while still warm, but of a lady trying to fill up her own fuel tank, manage a to-do list as long as her arm, make cordial phone calls to friends and family members home from the workforce in other parts of the country and still look put-together doing it all.
Off to the dungeon of a laundry room in the basement where 9-month-old clothes await my tired arms!
